Cicada Princess is a short film based on a children’s book by the same title, both written and produced by Mauricio Baiocchi (Mauchi) with illustrations and character designs by Steve Ferrera.
Through miniatures and puppets, we follow the lives of the Cicadas emerging from the ground where they have been waiting as grubs for sixteen years. The Cicadas gather for the grand ball at the castle, knowing that when the sun rises their lives will come to an end.
Right now, the project is still on-going and asking for your support thru kickstarter where you can pledge for the project for as low as $1 up to $,3000 or more in order to finish the film. The project is still half-way from getting their $40,000 goal. For $25 you can get the copy of the short film and some postcards. Getting up to $100 can net you a cool miniature of the bug bridge.
